Gypsea Rover is a Hylas 54 cutter rig , sloop yacht designed for serious blue water cruising. This yacht is a classic German Frers design with a powerful raked bow, flattish bottom and a swim platform at the stern with davits for the dingy. It won the American Cruising World Magazine Best Boat of the Year for over 48 feet full size cruiser in 1998 when the model was launched.

This particular yacht was commissioned by 2 experienced American sailors for their retirement circumnavigation. They cruised through the Caribbean, Panama Canal and crossed the Pacific. On arrival in Austraia, changed circumstanses lead to the sale to a Sydney couple who crusied the South Pacific region for a couple of years. They  also commissioned German Frers to design the custom hard dodger and carries out other modifications & upgrades.

The yacht is Hull #31 and the first Hylas to be upgrded with triple spreader rig and a 125 HP turdo Yanmar diesel engine. The yacht was bult in Taiwan by the Queen Long shipyard and has Twaron reinforced solid glass hull construction technique.
